Government representatives from Fiji, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Tonga and Tuvalu as well as development partners from the Pacific region met in Nadi, Fiji for a south-south learning programme to share lessons learnt and best practices on how certain countries have progressed in the establishment of their National Climate Funds (NCF).

The Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) has joined the community of TEDxSuva sponsors for this year’s event, announcing their support at a signing event hosted at their Secretariat office in Suva.
MONDAY 1 MAY 2017: Marshall Islands and Solomon Islands have submitted a paper to the forthcoming meeting of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) calling on shipping to show high ambition in tackling climate change causing emissions from shipping, in line with, Pacific Leaders calls for no more than 1.5 degrees warming.

Monday 6 March 2017: Today the visiting Norwegian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Tone Skogen, and Her Excellency Ms Unni Kløvstad, Ambassador of Norway, met with the PIDF Secretary General Mr François Martel at the PIDF HQ in Suva, the first such high level contact between the PIDF and Norway.
Following a comprehensive consultation process with respective in country multi-stakeholder organisations, the Governments of the Republic of Marshall Islands and Republic of Nauru officially established National Sustainable Development Boards (NSDBs) and reaffirmed their support to the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF).
PIDF was represented by Anais Rouveyrol, Team Leader for Members and Partners Services for PIDF, attended the SPC Regional SDG Pacific Headline Indicators Meeting on 27 February – 2nd March 2017 in Noumea, New Caledonia.
Following a meeting in March between Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) management and the Hon. Inia Seruiratu, designated Fiji COP23 High Champion, the PIDF has offered with its technical partners and network to assist the honourable Minister in the implementation of his role as part of the COP23 Fiji Presidency.
