Diplomats hail new PIDF headquarters

Diplomats have hailed the new headquarters of the Pacific Islands Development Forum based at Domain in Suva.

The PIDF Secretariat was opened by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

British High Commissioner to Fiji Roderick Drummond says, the refurbished building of the former Film and TV Unit of government looks very impressive.

“this also seems to me to be very appropriate headquarters of the organisation..its not grand, its functional, beautifully done, very eco-sensitive..it seems to me it has recycled materials and so on, so I wish it well”.Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vinod Kumar says, described the PIDF Secretariat a good idea.

“I think its a very good idea to have an independent building for the PIDF Secretariat here and I’ve just gone through the building..looks very impressive..a small space been converted into a functional office space and I think that reflects the ideals that are enshrined in the whole concept of PIDF “.

PIDF is a grand coalition of Pacific Governments, civil society organisations and business, all working together to enhance the cause of Pacific peoples everywhere

Former Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat Deputy Secretary General, Feleti Teo has been appointed interim Secretary General of PIDF.

Penijamini Lomaloma a former Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs, is interim Deputy Secretary General.
