Sub-Regional Coordinator (Pacific)

Mr Timothy Wilcox is Head of UNISDR’s Sub-Regional Office in the Pacific, which covers 17 Pacific Island Countries and Territories, including Australia and New Zealand. He has served in the Australian Public Servicein Canberra and overseas in the Australian Diplomatic Corp in Suva, Fiji. Serving five years in the Australian Department of Health and Ageing managing national immunization and population health programs, he was then recruited tothe Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). Here he spent eight years managing disaster risk management, humanitarian, regional pandemic and health programsin both the Pacific and Asia before moving to UNISDR.
Familiar with the challenges of disasters, he served 6 years as a Deputy Team Leader in the State Emergency Services in both the ACT and Queensland. He is currently completing post-graduate studies in emergency management at Florida State University, and holds a Masters of Human Services with Honours and a Bachelor of Social Work.
